reflection assignment 1

Please post 5 elements that mean "home" or sense of place to you. Consider the following question: What makes you feel happy, comfortable, safe, etc. Read my example below if needed.
As my own place I call home has shrunk from 1800 square feet to 400 square feet, you would think my current state of home would feel crowded and cramped and too small. However, I do find that the smaller space is comforting and simple to navigate (no more running down 3 flights of stairs for a tv snack). The simple to navigate includes elements which make the space function well including a place to hang my coat at the door, large storage closets, an armoire I built for storage in the bathroom, and an island cabinet which used to be a record cabinet, now painted off yellow. I enjoy the natural materials in my environment including hardwood floors, exposed brick, and a lovely view of a large tree and the downtown skyline. Light has always been an important element for me to feel comfortable in any space, so my space with its large windows to let it in are necessary as well as comforting. In my living space I enjoy colors red orange/turquoise/off-white/white on accessories only, as this is an apartment. The last thing is my stuff. My antique sewing table, my red cabinet of fabric with 3 fenton owls perched on top my fiestaware and of course my cat, Charley.
